The Runaways (and Bakuman)
You know guys...it's a very rare instance when I believe an entire time decade to be boring...apparently the 1970's is one of those era's now don't get me wrong I was born in 1992 so I had my time without modern technology. I remember one particular instance when a woman came to my school in grade 1 to show us a new laptop and I was like oh thats cool then she said and all I have to do to do a search on the internet is bring out this and attach it...she brought out some sort of giant white behemoth with an antenna and even as a 9 year old I was like "DA FUCK IS THAT"
But according to this movie the 1970's were so boring that in order for people to kill time they'd swear more...they swore more times then in Die Hard 1-4 here's a typical sentence from the Runaways:
"Hey you fuckers, how the fuck's it going, I'm pretty fuckin good but I need to go get fucked...fuck"
Now I read Craig Ferguson's book American On Purpose...that made the 70's seem pretty exciting problem is you can't have a successful band if your life isn't so boring that your only two options for entertainment is practice...or obtain cancer O_O
I'm sure the actual band the Runaways had a great time on their journey to stardom but this movie was so bad at showing it that I couldn't even make it all the way through so I instead switched to watching the anime Bakuman
BAKUMAN: Alright this anime is made by the same artist and writer of Deathnote, basic plot line is these two guys in middle school are trying to make it big as manga artists, let me tell you right off the bat I think this anime is great, its not nearly as boring as it sounds, and most importantly it has heart you feel these characters through and through your happy for em when they succeed and your sad when they fail, Ohba and Obata managed to make another soon to be hit anime, I definately recommend this to anyone that wants a GOOD slice of life anime
You's the man,
